Lake Olive Spinner Dry Flies
The lake olives are very closely related to the river olives.  Like the river olive spinners, the lake species also has very bright colours.  Fishing Lake Olive Spinners is not easy.  Spinner activity is at its height in calm, still conditions.  This makes a delicate cast absolutely essential as anything else will startle the feeding trout.

A Lake Olive Spinner pattern is one of the few dry flies that can be succesful at first light.  Trout will often feed on spinners left over from the previous night's egg laying activities.

Apricot Spinner
Size 14 only
The Apricot Spinner represents a female pond olive spinner.  They are best fished in still shallow conditions on lakes and ponds at dusk on a hot summer's evening but can be effective at other times.  Delicate casts are required with all spinner patterns as they are only found in large numbers when the conditions are calm and still.

Lake Olive Spinner
Size 14 only
The Lake Olive Spinner is a generic pattern designed to imitate the darker species of lake olive.  They are best used on warm summer evenings when great swarms of spinners collect on the surface.  The Lake Olive Spinner can also be fished at dawn when trout feed on left over spinners from the previous evening's activities.
